Fabric Technician
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £14.66 per hour
Job Type: Contract – Full Time
The Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Fabric Technician to join their facilities management team. This is a hands-on role responsible for carrying out reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and minor project works across a high-profile working environment.
You will be responsible for completing a range of general building and fabric maintenance tasks, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
-
Respond to reactive maintenance tasks and complete works within agreed timescales

Carry out reactive and PPM works across the site
-
Complete minor project and building works as required
-
Repair and maintain floor and wall coverings
-
Carry out ceiling tile repairs and replacements
-
Undertake general building and installation works
-
Complete general lighting and lamp replacement tasks
-
Carry out AHU/FCU filter changes
-
Undertake basic plumbing repairs and maintenance
-
Complete site surveys and support the production of works requests, method statements and risk assessments for planned works

Liaise professionally with client representatives regarding maintenance and repair works

Use PDA/mobile technology to record completed works, communications and updates

Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with relevant Health & Safety requirements

Organise your own workload and ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently

Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the Technical Services Manager
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience in fabric maintenance and/or carpentry, ideally within a facilities management or high-profile commercial environment.
You will ideally have:

Previous Fabric Technician, Fabric Engineer or Carpentry experience

City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent qualification in Carpentry or a relevant trade

Experience working within a high-profile or commercial environment

Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures and requirements, including COSHH, working at height and risk assessments

Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, instructions and processes

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload

Ability to identify material requirements and plan tasks effectively
-
Good customer service and communication skills
-
Good PC literacy and experience using mobile/PDA technology

Full, valid UK driving licence
-
IOSH and/or NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous

Willingness to work additional hours when required
